Let's Worship |
I. Where do we worship?
A. A certain place? John 4:20-23 In spirit and in truth
B. Only in private? Hebrews 2:12 In the midst of the congregation
II. Through Whom Do We Worship? A very important aspect of worship is prayer.
A. A “holy one/saint”? Romans 8:26 The Holy Spirit
B. The mother of Jesus? Romans 8:34 Jesus Himself (See also Matt. 2:11 )
1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 7:22-25; 1 John 2:1
III. Whom Do We Worship?
A. Images? Exodus 20:1-5 No other gods!
Exodus 34:14; Isaiah 44:21ff; Psalm 97:7
The smith, the carpenter, and the one who cuts down cedars will be ashamed… They have not known nor understood. And, what about us if we worship a tree trunk or a piece of gold made by God? God has made us; we have not made God!
B. The apostle Peter? Acts 10:25 -26 No man!
C. The apostle Paul? Acts 14:8-15 The living God!
D. An angel? Revelation 22:8-9 God!
E. A prophet? Matthew 17:1-8 Only Jesus!
Many people in the Bible are called “blessed”, but we do not worship them!
Men:
Abraham (Genesis 14:19 ) “Blessed be Abram of God Most High”
The servant of Abraham (Genesis 24:31) “O blessed of the Lord”
Isaac (Genesis 26:29) “the blessed of the Lord”
The twelve sons of Jacob (Genesis 49)
Women:
Rebekah (Genesis 24:60) “ May you become the mother of thousands of ten thousands; and may your descendants possess the gates of those who hate them.”
Ruth, grandmother of David (Ruth 3:10 ) Boaz: “Blessed are you of the Lord!”
Leah (Genesis 30:13) “The daughters will call me blessed”
Jael (Judges 5:24 ) “ Most blessed among women is Jael”
Mary (Luke 1:48 ) “A ll generations will call me blessed”
We worship Jesus John 20:24 -29 “My Lord, and my God!”
If you believe that Jesus is the Lord, you must subject yourself to Him:
Philippians 2:8-11; Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38
