A Super-Significant Day

At the end of His earthly ministry, Jesus instituted the Lord's Supper on the night of the Passover. Jesus was the "Lamb of God", and was crucified the next day. Then, during the next 40 days, "He presented Himself alive by many infallible proofs." Acts 1:3

Read Acts 1:4-9

Then came the day of "Pentecost" (Acts 2:1), so it's helpful to know something about solemn feasts of the Jews (rather, of God) - Leviticus 23:4

Passover always fell on the 14 th of the month, and then began the holy Feast of Unleavened Bread, which lasted seven days.

The day of Pentecost (that is, the holy Feast of Weeks) always occurred on a Sunday, fifty days after the Sabbath that occurred during the Feast of Weeks. (Leviticus 23:5, 16-21)

["The day of rest," or the Sabbath, was the last day of the week. (23:3)]

On the Pentecost after Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection, the gospel was preached for the first time. On that very day, a marvelous thing happened:

For the first time, people were saved by the blood of Jesus and were added to His kingdom, the church. The events that happened on that Pentecost fulfilled at least four ancient prophecies about the church:
